M-Shwari:Whose Idea?

M-Shwari is another Mobile revolutionary product from Safaricom Limited. It has got rigid bank regimes flat footed leaving banks pondering their next move. I must conquer that it is a product suited for many millions of "un-banked" Kenyan population. But another Micro-finance in Kenya is now claiming the ownership of the idea. The micro-finance institution insist that Safaricom stole their idea and the matter now is in litigation. Is it that financial institutions are fighting Safaricom for their innovative products for eating up their marginal profits? If that is the case then, financial institutions must create their innovative products  and patent to help them stay afloat.

The Mad Rush for votes

Courtesy by Standard Media
The trickery of our politicians is now resurfacing. Many will declare themselves as saints and the same time demonizing their competitors. They call themselves reformers and performers only when it is only approaching elections yet when they transcend to power the word reform becomes an optical illusion. When  i seen these coalitions of convenience being mooted day and night , sooner or later they will become collisions. For others to  declare that “The battle would be between CORD (Coalition for Reforms and Democracy) and Jubilee... the rest are donkeys.” is totally unrealistic. They should remind themselves the proverbial race between the hare and the tortoise.

The Taxpayer Pinch

It has become a norm for Kenyan MPs to sneak bills to parliament against the will of the people.
I wonder why they created Salaries and Remuneration Commission and yet they behave like big Brother.
For  MPs to award themselves Ksh 9.3 Million stipend at night and expecting the already burdened taxpayer to take it lying down is regrettable. "Just image the figures mathematically": There are 222 sitting MPs (222* 9.3)=Kshs 2,064,600,000. Where on earth do someone get a retirement  package for 9.3 Million for working only for 5 years?

The unending Strikes

I wonder why the government are ease when increasing salary perks for MPs and PS without questioning the source of the monies but when it comes to teachers, lecturers and nurses the create sleazy reasons of the notion that there is NO MONEY.   This is interesting when MPs and PS gets huge junk of the increments teachers and lecturers  gets merely 200, 500, 800, etc, increments. This is totally unreasonable. Issuing threats and ultimatums is not the way to go

The unnecessary Amendments

The Amendments passed by  Kenyan Parliament August House on the new constitution is totally retrogressive and unconstitutional. Kenyans Passed the new constitution with hope of introducing sanity in political landscape in Kenya, but our MPs think otherwise "offer themselves safe landing" . Even the MPs and presidential candidates  riding their campaigns on political reform are all numb about the amendments. Watering down the electoral laws which was passed resolutely by Kenyans is like chaining our sovereignty.

No More Politics in the Church

Kenyan Politicians have to think on the better ways of wooing voters. Casting their political nets in Church is totally unacceptable. The Anglican Church  have stepped in to stop  Kenyan comical politicians from overriding the pulpit. I think this is the best way in restoring sanity in Churches.

Tri-Semester in Public Universities

Reducing the waiting period for students to joint public universities and increasing admissions to accommodate tri-semester might be best effort done by government but it is totally different and chaotic for the academic staff (lecturers). These are questions ought to be answered by relevant authorities. Did they consider the workload of lecturers? How will they compensate them for their time?  In case of promotions, they are required to make publications to be promoted, so how will they publish work yet the required to work for all year? Even though public universities face stiff competition  from private universities in admitting students, they should have allowed only tri-semester in public universities with the condition that there is availability of work force or employ more academic personnel to accommodate the numbers and the interests of the student . If this is not done now,  tri-semester will bound to fail in near future.

Inside Prison Cells

Prison Cell

According to Herald Online "remarks made by Zimbabwe senator that prisoners can go without food and clothing as long as they satisfy their sexual needs and urging the Government to forgo clothes and food and provide “sex gadgets” in prisons to curb homosexuality"  is totally laughable. Introducing "Sex Toys" into prison as way of quenching their thirst is NOT correct. Two wrongs do not make one right. Prison is a corrective facility.
